Arrow Season 3

-Well, I promised to give this show up if Merlyn was still alive at the end of the season, and the show made him the new Ra’s al Ghul. Goodbye, show. A flight of angels sing thee to thy rest. Also, *raises middle finger*

-After a whole season of asking why Ollie doesn’t just call in Barry to deal with the League, he does–while Barry’s in the middle of Harrison Wells Time, so he can’t even help that much. If Ollie had just called while Barry was pining after Iris, this season would’ve been ten episodes long.

-Seriously, it’s like a Batman movie where he calls Superman for help–to deal with the Joker after, like, twenty killing sprees and before another ten killing sprees. But don’t worry, Superman took out Harley Quinn! Team-ups!

-It’s hard for me to see this season as a win when all Oliver accomplished was taking a terrorist network and handing its leadership over to someone far worse than the current management because he wants to go on a road trip with his gal. Just kill him, you fucking asshole. You didn’t have a problem killing Ra’s al Ghul.

-So after making a point of how Ray needed WEEKS of training to effectively fly and operate the Atom armor–Felicity can do in sixty seconds? I know it’s a comic book moment, but… total rip-off of Iron Man 3, and there they made a point of how Tony was specifically designing the Mark 42 to do that for Felicity.

-The problem is his show THINKS that Merlyn is Wilson Fisk from Daredevil, a sympathetic but now destructive figure, when he’s actually Grant Ward from AoS–just a total cock. But AoS KNOWS that Grant Ward is Grant Ward. They give Ward comeuppances and don’t treat him as a lovable rascal with a heart of gold. Seeing a down but not out Ward decide to take over HYDRA made me INTERESTED in what this crazy bastard was going to do next, and look forward to SHIELD’s next match with him. Seeing Merlyn force Nyssa to kneel to him made me throw up in my mouth a bit. This is the big pay-off to Sara’s killing? Her murderer is more powerful and better off than ever, while everyone else gets a happy ending and is fine with there being absolutely no lasting repercussions to Merlyn’s actions?

-Seriously, Oliver giving the leadership of the League to Merlyn instead of Nyssa (who is probably the most noble character on the show at this point) is, like, ‘Captain America gets a motorcycle toy instead of Black Widow’ bad.

-That scene where, in three minutes, we learn that Quentin has started drinking again before he conquers his drinking problem and goes back to loving the Arrow–if you get ‘mortifying’ in a game of Charades, you should be able to play that clip on Youtube for the win.

-Okay, so how did ‘da Chief’ know that Oliver and Ra’s were responsible for the bioweapon outbreak that just happened, and was able to order Ollie to be shot by a sniper? Like, they’re two guys fighting with swords. Send him a SWAT team, ya dinguses. And wasn’t this the exact same plot beat as Waller trying to nuke the city last season?

-The final fight comes down to Oliver and Ra’s–at night–in the same black costume. Impossible to tell what’s going on. Shouldn’t this be where Oliver triumphantly puts his trademark Green Arrow costume back on?

-Diggle’s leaving–or getting a costume–or something.

-Thea’s a superhero now, even though it makes far more sense for her character to go be with Roy.

-I guess Damien Darke is going to be the new bad guy? Shit, we ran through the good Green Arrow villains really quick, didn’t we?

-Hong Kong flashbacks were pointless. We never did find out why Waller gave Oliver the assignment instead of literally everyone else. He didn’t even speak the language! But I guess now Ollie’s going to spend some time in Atlantis?

-Impressive how much of a bitch Felicity managed to be about Oliver’s fake, unconsummated marriage to Nyssa al Ghul.

-So, at the end of the day, Oliver was more willing to trust Merlyn the Myss Myrderer than he was to just phone Barry and take out the entire League without any need for a long-con-alienate-all-my-friends-murder-a-dude plan? Yes. Yes, that makes sense.
