Nurse Ginger VS Gamora

VS

I know what you are thinking, how can a shrunken nurse damsel compare to the cyborg assassin trained by Thanos?

Well, I'm comparing Action Girl Credentials here.
See, I went back and watched it again and you know what? When you think about it, Ginger is quite the badass all things considered.

Allow me to list her cred here.

First Scene With Her

Waking up on the shelf, tanning, eating, etc. A douchebag reporter pops up at the window and bothers her. Now, consider this. Ginger is very small, like, small doll size. Compared to her, this dude is a giant. Her reaction? Grab a knife and start threatening him. He isn't scared, but that took guts. She agrees to a later interview just to get him to go away.
Next, a giant spider pops out of nowhere. She screams from shock and surprise, understandable. Dollman pops up and shoots it with his super gun.

Meeting Officer Judith Grey

So, another human pops up in her house of nowhere and greets Ginger and Dollman. She asks for their help in dealing with the Demonic Toys and explains her story from the first movie. Ginger mouths off to her and they argue. Once again showing that Ginger isn't afraid of people of bigger size than her. She even agrees to come along just in case she can help out.

Toy Warehouse

So, they arrive at the warehouse with evil psycho toys. Judith is gunned down by the killer robot, which Dollman then destroys. Later, while Dollman is climbing up some boxes, Toy Soldier pops up and starts attacking him. So what does Ginger do? She climbs up above them, grabs some marbles and starts flinging them down at the Toy Soldier, hurting him and giving Dollman a chance to get away. She is then chased around the airvents by Jack Attack and is captured offscreen. Then again, Dollman gets pwned by Oopsy Daisy, so that one is a draw.

Captured

So Ginger is tied up to a giant toy clock and Ginger is tied by his hands and feet to remote controlled trucks. Oopsy explains his evil plan of evil and monologues about his past in between mocking them, etc. All this time, Ginger is untying her hands and frees herself, rips off one of the hands from the toy clock and cuts the rope holding Rick's hands before the trucks can tear him in half. The other truck drives off with him and, while Ginger is recaptured, she still saved the hero of the movie AGAIN!

VS Oopsy

So while Dollman is moving around the warehouse and fighting the remaining toys, Oopsy feels up a handcuffed Ginger who is trying her best to fend him and still mouthing off at him the best she can. Dollman shows up and holds a gun at him while Oopsy puts his hand on Ginger's throat, chocking her and telling Dollman to drop his gun or he'll break her neck. Despite this, Ginger still tells Dollman to just kill it and not worry about her. Dollman relents and drops his gun but when Oopsy mentions he 'has all the tools' Ginger immediately drives her knee into Oopsy's groin as hard as she can, causing the giant demon toy that is more than twice her size to scream in pain and back away from her, freeing Dollman to shoot it dead.

So. While she was captured twice, she saved herself both times and saved the hero more than once. She's no kung-fu badass, but she is a true action girl nonetheless, not afraid to fight or mouth off to giants.

GAMORA

First Scene

Bickering with her sister Nebula and then going rushing off after the gem. She meets up with Starlord, flirts with him a little and then kicks him and runs off. Starlord gets back up and goes after her and they fight. Groot and Rocket pop up and she fights them to. She does manage to cut off Groot's arms but she is eventually KOed and they are all captured by the police and sent to prison.
It's an okay intro. Gives you hope for the future, which will be squashed.

Prison

Despite being a super waif-fu cyborg trained by Thanos, Gamora spends her time in the prison scared for her life and visibly flinching when they are threatening her and banging on her door. That night, three mooks find her, overpower her, and drag her to the showers. Gamora is left screaming for help and helplessly struggling against them. She is cornered by them in the showers and they are about to kill her when Drax pops up and distracts them, Gamora knocks down the two thugs and she is then chocked and overpowered by Gamora, rendering her helpless once more. It takes Starlord negotiating with Drax to save her.
During the big prison fight, Gamora makes a big leap, beats some prison guards and cuts off a dude's arm off screen. Weird, considering her previous fight. It doesn't negate the screaming and needing help though.

Planet

On another planet, she and Starlord flirt until she snaps out of it and holds a knife to him and tells him to back off. Later, when Nebula arrives to try and kill them, they try escaping in ball ships. Rocket and Starlord improvise a way to take out the enemy ships, but Gamora is chased into space and her ship is gunned down and the gem stolen. Gamora is left hanging out in space and needs Starlord to save her again. Because, somehow, a simple helmet is enough for your body to survive in space just fine. They are then brought aboard the pirate ship and flirt some more.

Pirate Ship

Gamora and Starlord are grabbed by mooks and Starlord is beaten up while Gamora is held by her arms by two mooks and she can only scream at them to leave Starlord alone. Literally, she screams this while being helpless. Once again, it's up to Starlord to get them out of this one.

VS Nebula

So during the big climax of the movie on Ronan's ship, Gamora gets to fight Nebula finally. It's an alright battle, but noting spectacular. What's important to realize here is that she is on the losing end of the fight when a hole gets blown in the ship and Gamora gets the chance to throw her out. So even in her final battle, Gamora needed outside help to defeat her rival. Nebula cuts off her metal hand and bounces.

VS Ronan

Ooooh Child.

So. She has two badass moments, one of which was a decent intro and the other of which feels kind of tacked on considering the rest of her showings in the movie. In the prison showers, she needed to rescued. In space ship fight, she needed to be rescued. In the pirate ship, she needed to be rescued. In the nebula fight, she needed outside help. So yeah, despite her upgrades and years worth of training, Gamora still comes off as a real damsel in distress in this movie. Disappointing really.


WINNER
Nurse Ginger. Probably 12 inches tall, but with a feisty, fighter spirit that can stand with the greats, she towers over Gamora.
