So for those who have seen X-Men Evolution, you know what Magneto's plan was.
Use Alex to convince Scott to come to Asteroid M, kidnap Xavier via controlling the X-Jet and bring him to Asteroid M and put him in stasis. From there, he can brainwash Scott and Alex, turning them into both super mutants and his own brainwashed thugs at the same time.
From here, his plan gets dumb. Basically, Magneto takes a page out of Apocalypse's playbook and sends the Brotherhood to fight the X-Men and only capture and evolve the strong ones. I.E. the winners.
Problem!
The ones left behind on both teams, obviously won't be happy either way. The Brotherhood members who were left behind will obviously be upset and feel betrayed over being thrown away, as shown with Toad and Mystique, and the X-Men will very pissed over their friends being captured. As you can guess, they band together to wreck Magneto's plan.
Now then, here's what should he should have done.
Mystique and Sabertooth are obviously very loyal to him, and Mystique commands the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood consists of the following
Blob: Superhuman Strength and Durability.
Toad: Superhuman Leg Strength, Slime Spit, Elastic Tongue, Enhanced Agility, Can leap around walls and such.
Avalanche: Shockwaves that can manipulate the ground to cause earthquakes, tear up the road and cause rockslides.
Quicksilver: Superhuman Speed.
Now, given everything, Magneto could have very easily done this:
Walk into the Brotherhood Base, tell them about the enhancer machine, and offer to supercharge their powers. The Brotherhood would have jumped on this in a second! So, bring them to Asteroid M, show it off with Sabertooth as he did in the show, and then make the offer to the rest. The Brotherhood go in one-by-one and come out supercharged. Mind alteration optional.
So, Supercharged Brotherhood.
Blob
Bigger, Stronger, Possibly with Mass Shifting Now.
Quicksilver
Avalanche
Actually able to use his shockwaves to attack people now and improved skill in using the Earth and ground to his advantage via manipulating it with his shockwaves.
Toad
Mystique
Shown in the show
After her powers were increased by Magneto's enhancer on Asteroid M she became immune to telepathic probing and mind control. Originally Mystique could not alter her scent with her form making mutants with enhanced senses like Wolverine and Sabretooth capable of identifying her regardless of her form. However when her powers were enhanced on Asteroid M she developed the ability to alter her scent. Even Wolverine is now incapable of detecting Mystique when she is in disquise as seen when it was revealed in "Day Of Reckoning, Part 2" that Mystique was impersonating Professor Xavier for weeks.
Sabertooth: Bigger, stronger, more animalistic.
So, my thinking is this.
Have one episode introduce Asteroid M and the Brotherhood are brought on board and shown around while the X-Men are dealing with the dilemma of the day. End of the episode shows the super charged Brotherhood.
The Season 1 Finale will be a two-parter.
Part 1 being about the X-Men's first fight with the now Supercharged Brotherhood. In which the X-Men, caught off guard by their enhanced powers, are soundly thrashed and defeated. Magneto spares them though in hopes that they will learn and come to join him. Magneto and the Brotherhood leave to carry out the big plan, which is...ohhh...let's say a variation on what his plan was in the Movie: A super machine that will send out energy waves that will enhance mutants and turn humans into mutants, essentially making Magneto king of everything and all that. However, Alex slips away during all of this, horrified when he finds out not only about the plan, but that his brother got beaten up like he did.
Part 2 features the X-Men regrouping at the Mansion, recovering from their injuries and finding out about Magneto's plan from Alex when he arrives at the Mansion, reuniting with Scott and informing them of what Magneto did and what he told him. They come up with a plan and leave to Asteroid M in that non-metal ship they used to bring the fight to him.
Confronting the Brotherhood, the fight goes all across Asteroid M and the X-Men have to sweat blood to beat them, but in the end the battered heroes are triumphant and square off with Magneto himself. It is a difficult battle, but thanks to Scott's Raw Power Blast and teamwork, they defeat him and finish off Asteroid M. Magneto and his team escape in those metal spheres things and the X-Men make their escape as well as Asteroid M blows up, destroying Magneto's plan with it.
One of the things about Evo is that the Brotherhood never felt like a threat. Hell, in the Scarlet With episode the X-Men were casually joking on the way to the fight. Wanda pwned them, but she's the win button. I think that, doing it like this, would go a long way towards establishing them as a big threat to the X-Men and them using their skills and training and teamwork to win.

They kinda remind me of The Monarch Henchmen from Venture Brothers. Sure they look like a big joke to the protagonist, what with Brock curbstomping them left and right, but in the long run they gradually grew into becoming a serious threat on the show.
ReplyDeleteIn the first episode alone they succeeded in nearly killing Brock, sure lives were lost but still successful. They're once again successful in capturing Brock and the Venture Family in a later season and they were pretty wasted at the time.
It's also shown that The Monarch was pretty dangerous when he isn't trolling Dr.Venture and has a good track record in proving so.
With the Evo Brotherhood they've gradually been proven that they're no laughing matter themselves. They were the ones that exposed the X-Men to the human public then managed to hold their own against the Horsemen during the final season.
So the moral of this kiddies is never overlook a joke villain, they just might prove to be a dangerous threat later on.
Hell, in the finale, Horsemen Magneto threw a plane at the Brotherhood and Blob caught it. That was pretty badass.
DeleteAgreed, joke villains can be dangerous. Remember Pilaf? Guy would've ruled the world if not for Oolong's quick thinking and a giant monkey.
